Lily says: “I love being able to make a difference in people’s lives and working at the council helps me do that.”

How does a normal day start? My day starts with a latte and email check 🙂

What is your role? I am a Campaigns Officer and responsible for Communicating the council’s climate change priorities and initiatives.

Why did you join Staffordshire County Council? Well, I fell into it. But, I much prefer working in comms where I  am actually helping the community as opposed to selling a product.

What might people not know about working in the council? How varied working at the council can be – it’s not just an office job.

What does your typical day look like? Well there’s not a always a typical day! I could be out filming, designing graphics, at a community event, writing communication plans, social media – the list goes on!

What is your most memorable moment? Filming at a local beehive in a full bee suit (terrifying).

What is the worst part of your job? Thinking creatively within budgets and social media trolls.

What is the best part of your job? Meeting communities and a wide range of people across the county that I would not normally come across. The work life balance is also a huge green flag.

What would you be doing if you didn’t work here? I’d probably be looking after dogs or something arty and creative.

What advice would you give someone considering a career in comms? Do not underestimate the power of building good relationships with people – and caffeine!
