To ensure we can deliver our ambitious highways transformation we are looking to grow our team of highway engineering professionals and develop talent for the future.

As well as the £53 million allocated for major projects, improvement and maintenance in 2024/25, we are investing an extra £50 million in highways over the next three years.

Highway Maintenance Manager (Client)
Salary: £52,571 – £56,766 per annum

As a member of the Highways Maintenance and Network Management team you will:

act as the contract management lead for the commissioning of routine, reactive, cyclical and winter highway maintenance services.

lead on the development of service (functional) specifications for Highway Maintenance.

Highway Maintenance Engineer (Client)
Salary: £42,403 – £46,464 per annum

As a member of the Highways Maintenance and Network Management team you will:

develop, maintain and review service specifications for emergency, routine, reactive and cyclical and winter highway maintenance services.

review of annual service plans submitted by delivery partners.

Community Highway Assistant Manager
Salary: £47,420 – £51,515 per annum

2 full time posts available: 1x Leek and 1x Gailey

In this brand new role you will:

provide management support to ensure a community-based approach to the delivery of the highway service, improving elected member and community satisfaction.

respond to complex highway enquiries and providing expert advice and guidance on what local highway improvements can be achieved within budgetary, best practice and legislative constraints.

Community Highway Officer
Salary: £36,648 – £41,418 per annum

In this role you will:

support a community-based approach to the delivery of the highway service.

respond to highway enquiries, providing advice on budgetary, best practice and legislative constraints

work with elected members and delivery partners to develop a local works programme, identifying and collating priorities, commissioning delivery and ensuring contract compliance, quality and value for money.

The role will cover the Lichfield and/or Tamworth area with an office base in Lichfield, however, flexible working arrangements are available.

Community Highway Technical Support Officer
Salary: £31364 – £35745 per annum

Highways Information Engineer
Salary: £42,403 – £46,464 per annum

In this role you will:

undertake day-to-day management of the team responsible for the local street gazetteer, core highway asset data, geographical information systems, collection and analysis of traffic data.

use specialist skills to integrate data across the various in-house and external software systems ensuring a high level of data reliability to support the duties of the highway authority and provide information for stakeholders and customers.

Casualty Investigation Technician

Salary: £31,364 – £35,745 per annum

This technical role sits within a team of road safety professionals and as the responsibility of managing our injury collision dataset and fulfilling our statutory duties to analyse road safety data to inform our casualty reduction engineering functions.

Senior Technician
Salary: £31,364 – £35,745 per annum

In this role you will:

manage and commission a diverse range of projects, from inception through construction to financial completion.

prepare feasibility reports; engineering designs and drawings; estimates; transport related studies and assessments and examine and approve (if appropriate) applications for the construction of new streets as required by Section 7 of the Staffordshire Act 1983 when required.

participate in public consultation and liaison activities.

Technician (Road Adoptions)
Salary: £27,803 – £31,364 per annum

As a Technician (Road Adoptions), you will:

assist with the administration, financial and legal processed associated with the adoption of new roads, to ensure the county council fulfils its statutory obligation.

maintain effective relationships with developers and contractors to ensure new roads are adopted and can be maintained by the local authority.

Salary: £27,803 – £31,364 per annum

As a Land Charges Co-Ordinator, you will:

administer Local Land Charges search enquires

ensure that the information and data handling systems necessary to respond to enquiries are developed, maintained, and improved.
