Farida says: “It’s the best job in the world! I never have a problem to get out of bed, it’s never the same day.”

How did you end up working at Staffordshire County Council? I joined as a Librarian almost thirty years ago and have enjoyed every minute. I have worked in different locations and over the years the service has changed a lot. It continues to change but also continues to help deliver important services to all kinds of people of all ages. This is so satisfying for me as over the years I have got to know so many interesting people.

What are the main responsibilities in your role? I make sure Stafford, Burton, Uttoxeter and Stone Libraries are fully staffed and able to deliver their services. This requires good communication across the team, and I am always in touch with team leaders. I am a naturally talkative person, and this daily communication and support of others can be challenging but is something I really enjoy.

How does a typical day start? The day starts early as I like to get a flying start. I could be working on the other side of the county, and I like to dodge the traffic.  I will generally have heard from colleagues if there’s anything urgent needing my attention. And there usually is something unexpected that comes up but that’s the beauty of the job for me, it keeps everyday interesting!
