Transformation

Transformation brings together the council’s support services into a single directorate. Among other things, we manage the council’s financial arrangements, advise on its legal matters, and manage its public image. We support the council with its purchasing of goods and services, with its admin needs, and help it manage and make best use of its information. We manage the process by which we recruit people, pay people, and look after pensions. We make sure you have the technology to carry out your jobs. And perhaps most importantly, because we are a democratic organisation, we support our elected members and advise them on matters of policy.

Business and Executive Support

Our versatile teams are integral to daily council operations, offering crucial support such as meeting coordination, system updates, financial tasks, and minute-taking. We take pride in our proactive, forward-thinking approach, streamlining processes, and embracing digital opportunities. These efforts enhance Staffordshire County Council’s effectiveness, benefiting its residents.

Joining our Business Support team means providing vital, diverse administrative assistance across the council. Our roles are flexible and encompass a broad spectrum of responsibilities. You’ll gain valuable insights into Staffordshire’s support services, including safeguarding vulnerable individuals, waste and transportation management, data support, and personal assistant support for senior leaders. Moreover, when you become part of our team, we’ll actively foster your career development and help you achieve your professional goals.
Customer Services

Our team is often the first point of contact within the council. We aim to meet customer needs by giving consistent information, advice and support. We pride ourselves on giving high quality service to all customers who contact us.

Customer services is a great team to start your career in, as all you really need is good communication skills, IT skills to use our systems and a passion for helping people! Some roles we recruit to are: Customer Services Officer, Customer Service Assistant and Customer Service Supervisor.
Communications and Marketing

Our award-winning Communications team is responsible for developing and implementing council-wide internal and external communications. Our work promotes the vast, diverse work of the county council that has a daily impact on the lives of Staffordshire’s 867,000 residents.

We deliver corporate marketing and campaigns activity, media relations and reputation management, digital communications including social media, internal communications, corporate publications, place marketing, stakeholder engagement, and lobbying activity.

Another arm to the team is We Are Staffordshire, the place marketing organisation putting Staffordshire on the map as the destination of choice to live, work, invest, visit and study.
Information Governance

The Information Governance Team oversees robust Information Management practices and ensures compliance with privacy legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK-GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018. Our responsibilities include recording and managing data breaches, offering data protection guidance to various service area projects, and maintaining the council’s Information Asset Register and IG Framework.

The team mainly consists of Information Governance Officers (IGOs), experts in data protection, who work under an Information Governance Operational Lead. Additionally, there are Records Management Advisors specialising in records management and Information Governance Assistants offering overall support. The Information Governance Manager oversees the team and manages the Records Centre team.

Currently, the team is implementing a new records management system, the ‘Corporate File Plan,’ for the entire organisation. Plus they’re organising training for care homes to ensure compliance with data protection laws and extending support to schools and local parish councils. This dedicated business unit ensures strong Information Management practices, supporting various council projects while prioritising data protection and security.
Strategy and Transformation

In the heart of our organization, the Strategy and Transformation service plays a pivotal role in shaping Staffordshire’s future vision and priorities. We oversee strategic insight, transformation, digital initiatives, policy development, and partnerships, all with a focus on enhancing outcomes for Staffordshire’s residents. Our extensive and dynamic team collaborates closely with Cabinet Members, the Senior Leadership Team, and senior partners. Our teams include:

The Change Team: Seasoned change practitioners supporting leaders and partners in executing complex organisational change projects swiftly and effectively.

Digital Team: Driving digital transformation aligned with our Digital Strategy, streamlining operations, and enhancing the digital experience for citizens through innovative technology solutions.

Insight Team: Delivering high-quality insights that inform strategic decisions and performance management, leading community engagement efforts.

Policy and Partnerships Team: Providing top-notch advice, analysis, and support to advance the council’s strategy and business plan.

A key role within Strategy and Transformation are our Strategic Delivery Managers (SDMs): These are our most senior officers fostering beneficial relationships and executing strategic priorities at a local level across the districts, serving as a source of local intelligence.

The development of the Staffordshire Centre of Data Analytics (SCDA) has been really key to our success in strategy. This is a public sector initiative focusing on data analysis to address complex challenges in Staffordshire.
